RED ALERT: WY Legislative Process Being Pillaged and Mutilated

Wyomingites have until, most likely at the latest, 3PM TODAY, Jan 12, to address this critical issue.  You have had no say in this and neither has most legislators – you are not being represented at all.  ACT NOW –  SEE EMAIL BLAST LIST BELOW.

The short story is the Wyoming Management Council is playing hide-and-burn-the-Wyoming-constitution with our legislative process because of, you know, COVID.  They have taken the WY Constitutionally mandated legislative process and chopped it into teeny-tiny pieces  – where the fragmentation of the process will be played out in a devious way within an unconstitutional and unorthodox calendar, via the internet and in an unconventional order – virtually behind closed doors to assure minimal, at best, citizen awareness and participation.  They have schemed all of this without your representative’s vote or input.  They didn’t even post this dastardly schedule until just two days ago (screen-shot proof below).

Violations of the The WY State Constitution

  • Changing the schedule violates  Article 3, Section 7
  • Making these decisions without 2/3 or even a simple majority of legislators violates Article 3, Section 12
  • Holding session while depriving Wyomingites physical access to the process and their elected legislators violates Article 3, Section 14 and Section 15
  • And today they will vote on adjourning until Jan 19 – another constitutional violation (Article 3, Section 15) – unless they achieve the necessary consent vote by both houses.  WYOMINGITES NEED TO STOP THIS CONSENT VOTE

Wyomingites need to EMAIL BLAST Wyoming legislators in the next few hours and demand:

  • they hold session in-person at the Wyoming State Capitol as specified by our WY Constitution
  • they hold session per the official schedule as specified by our WY Constitution

Note – that it is the Legislative Management Council (members listed at the bottom of this page) that plotted this, and not the entire legislative body.  There are many legislators who already oppose this.
